From a Life Coach in Leeuwarden: What Is Life Coaching, and How Can It Help You?
What is life coaching?
When it comes to life coaching, it seems there are more coaching fields than types of cheese. There’s leadership coaching, professional coaching, burnout coaching, relationship coaching, loneliness coaching, and friendship coaching, to name just a few.
While they all have a slightly different focus, each shares one major goal: to help you become a better version of yourself. According to the International Coaching Federation, life coaching is a thought-provoking and creative partnership that helps clients become their best personal and professional selves. This work usually happens during 1:1 sessions, either online or in person. Many coaches, myself included, offer a free consultation for your first meeting.
How can life coaching benefit you?
In a foundational study by the International Coaching Federation, the majority of people who’d worked with a coach said they felt better equipped to handle work, confidence, relationships, and everyday communication afterward.1 Ultimately, how beneficial coaching sessions are is largely personal and varies from person to person. The overall feeling so far has been positive.
Why I started Empowered Connections Coaching.
I moved to Leeuwarden about two months ago. As a transplant myself, I’ve discovered firsthand how hard it is to build a real social life from scratch as an adult. Making friends doesn’t come easy, but in my experience there’s a great tool to help.
In my coaching sessions, I follow the G.R.O.W. model, a structured approach to setting Goals, examining your current Reality, exploring your Options, and committing to your Will, or next steps. After unpacking my own reality, I set a goal to make some new friends. About a month after moving here, I’d made two new friends I still see on a regular basis, using goals set with the G.R.O.W. model in mind.
What’s different about Empowered Connections Coaching.
Most life coaches in Leeuwarden focus on career transitions, burnout, or stress. Empowered Connections is built specifically around loneliness and friendship, topics every one of us must confront during our lives, especially as we get older and are taken down life’s ever-changing paths. Whether you’ve just moved to a new city, gone through a life change, or simply lost touch with how to build new relationships, coaching can help. Through goal setting grounded in the G.R.O.W. model, I’m confident our sessions can help you achieve your personal goals.
